Elletta Rosetta Wint-Chambers the first born on March 7, 1935, to the late George and Linetta Wint in the District of Resource, Manchester Jamaica. She was the first child born to her lovely parents. She was greatly loved and therefore never received whippings from her father. She attended the Grove Town All Age School and participated in all activities of the school.
After graduation, she went on to do sewing with her grandmother who was a famous seamstress in the area, putting out wedding gowns and making dresses for women and children. Leta later became a seamstress and did this work for several years.
In 1958, she migrated to England and lived in Birmingham where her daughter Lorna was born. After a period of four years, she was joined by her sister Rosa, brother Archie and her aunt Vernice. She lived happily in England.
Leta, as she was affectionately called, after a period of years, went back to Jamaica. After, a short period of time in Jamaica she left for the United States. Upon arriving to the United States, Leta lived in Brooklyn with her sisters and brother. Initially they all lived together, but after a time they each purchased their own homes but always remained united.
Leta then met and married Noel Chambers in March of 1994. Noel preceded her in death in 2018. Leta and Noel were both members of Brooklyn Temple Church, where she served as deaconess and he as a deacon. Tired of the cold, they both relocated to Florida and became members of the Poinciana SDA Church. There she served in the following departments: Choir Director, Sabbath School Teacher and for many years as Head Deaconess. Leta was a devoted and dedicated worker for the Lord. She will be long remembered for her kindness, loyalty and love for the church. Leta was very soft spoken, gentle and always thinking of others.
On Saturday December 2, 2023, Leta peacefully departed this life. She is preceded in death by her late Husband, Noel Chambers and her Grandson, Bradley D’Oyley Jr. She leaves to mourn: her Daughter, Lorna (Bradley) D’Oyley; Her Grandson, Gavin (Jasmine) Sandiford; her Granddaughter, Sherell (Mckinley) Stacker; her Great-granddaughters, Shayla and Sydney Sandiford and Nolin Stacker; her Sisters, Rosabell, Aretha, Parlin and one adopted sister, Maureen; her Brothers Dynesdal and Archie as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
