Wayne Jackson

Garlen Wayne Jackson, 67 of Florida and formerly of Blytheville, Arkansas and Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, surrounded by family.

Wayne was born on March 21, 1956 to Garlen and Oleva Jackson in Lepanto, Arkansas.

In 1975, Wayne married Terry Welch Jackson of Gosnell, Arkansas. They just celebrated their 48th anniversary. They went on to have three children, Michelle & Craig Johnson of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Christopher & Candice Jackson of Paragould, Arkansas and Douglas & Rebekah Jackson of Florida.

Wayne was a proud PaPaw to six grandchildren, Tyler & Taylor Johnson, Blake Johnson, Conner Johnson, Alyssa Jackson, Aiden Jackson and Nathaniel Jackson. He was so excited to soon be a great-grandpa to Jameson Johnson this summer.

In 2014, Wayne retired from 30 years of restaurant management. Five years of his experience in food management were at Celebration City and Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Since then, he has spent every minute possible enjoying his family. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerrns and traveling; which he just returned from a Cruise to Mexico.

He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. For nearly 20 years he served as a deacon at First Assembly of God of Blytheville and Pathway Church. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He loved witnessing and working with youth. He was compassionate and truly had a servant's heart.

Wayne is survived by his spouse, Terry Jackson, three children, six grandkids, and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by 3 siblings, Mary & Bill Lantz of Florida, Perry & Lana Jackson of Arkansas and Glenda Hill of Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Garlen and Oleva Jackson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Richard Funeral Services 233 N. 9th Street Haines City, FL on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations to be made to the American Kidney Fund.
