Keisha Ayoka Josephs was born on December 30, 1977, in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, to parents Marjorie and
Winston. Keisha, the fourth of six children, was joyfully welcomed and deeply loved by her parents.
She attended Excelsior Primary School and later St. Joseph’s Catholic Middle School in Kingston, Jamaica.
In 1986, Keisha migrated to the United States to join her mother and siblings. Keisha was a dedicated and
passionate individual who excelled in two distinct fields: as a Certified Patient Care Technician and as a hairstylist.
She enjoyed working with the elderly for various nursing agencies, such as Nurse Finders and Daughters of Sarah in
Albany, New York. While working as a Patient Care Technician, Keisha decided she wanted to be her own boss, with
the flexibility to do what she loved—becoming a hairstylist. Her love for her craft grew as she matured. Her mother
fondly recalled how Keisha enjoyed cutting her hair into different styles, often practicing on herself without her mom’s
permission. Unbeknownst to her mother, Keisha’s passion for hairstyling was already taking shape. Her love for the
profession led her to attend the School for Cosmetology, where she graduated as a Licensed Cosmetologist in
Albany, New York.
As Keisha perfected her craft, she began making wigs and found great success in this area. As noted in the video
presentation, Keisha’s passion for beauty and fashion was not just a profession, but a true calling. She took great
pride in making her clients look and feel their best!
Keisha will be remembered for her kindness, talent, and the positive impact she had on the lives of those she
touched.
Keisha’s greatest love was her two sons, Shyheim and Jayvon. They were the apples of her eye. She worked
tirelessly for her family, ensuring they had everything they needed. Her top priority was her boys—their health and
well-being were her utmost concern. Their success was her greatest joy!
Her passing on February 27, 2025, leaves behind a legacy of beauty and care that she shared with her family and
community.
Keisha is survived by her mother Marjorie; her sons Shyheim and Jayvon; her sisters Carissa, Jeanette, and
Khadijah; her brothers Volney, Dean, Chris, Walter, Teeta, and Alta; Wayne, her partner of 24 years; as well as
numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
We deeply miss her earthly presence, yet we celebrate the moments, the days, and the years she spent with us.
