Lolita Nixon

May 15, 1935 — January 29, 2025

Haines City

Lolita Nixon, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, departed this world on January 29, 2025, leaving behind memories that will shimmer in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on May 15, 1935, in Cayes, Haiti, her journey led her to Haines City, Florida, where she became a radiant beacon of love and laughter in her community.

Lolita embodied an unwavering spirit, characterized by her incredible work ethic and dedication to her family. She migrated to the United States with a fierce determination to carve out a brighter future for her children. Her proudest accomplishment was establishing a nurturing and supportive home for her four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She wore her crown as a queen, never shying away from hard work, while also discovering joy in everyday moments.

In all her vibrance, Lolita was funny and always dressed to impress, embodying the very essence of style with her thoughtfully chosen outfits. Those who were lucky enough to be around her were treated to her warmth, her incredible cooking, and a personality that blended love and care seamlessly. A member of the women's ministry at Beraca First Haitian Baptist Church in Haines City, Florida, she found community and connection through her faith and countless friendships.

Her legacy lives on through her cherished family. She is survived by her beloved sond, Fritz and Marc Henry Luxin; daughters, Gladys and Eval Luxin; and a multitude of grand and great-grandchildren—Sophia, Vera, Schneida, Stanley, Livingston, Justin, Jeremy, and Patrick Luxin—who carry forward her spirit and teachings. Tino Celestin, her dear brother, remains among the living to honor the sister he admired profoundly.

Lolita is preceded in death by her father, Elifet Celestin, her mother, Julia Mesidor, and her siblings: Darecois, Olepta, and Jedilise Celestin. Their enduring bond in life continues to resonate beyond.

A visitation will take place on February 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Beraca First Haitian Baptist Church, located at 1250 26th St, Haines City, FL. The following day, the community will gather at Parkview Christian Life Center, 3520 Baker Dairy Rd. Haines City, Fl. 33844 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM to celebrate her remarkable life, concluding with a burial at Forest Hill Cemetery at 12:30 PM.

Lolita Nixon was more than just an extraordinary woman; she was a source of inspiration, a protector of dreams, and a charming soul whose presence enriched all who knew her. As we remember her today, let us honor her legacy with kindness, resilience, and love—the very values she instilled in her family and the world around her.
