Mildred Patricia Thorne

Mrs. Mildred Patricia Thorne passed away on December 19, 2023 in Kissimmee, Florida at the age of 88. She was born in Rosehall, Guyana on December 14, 1935 to her parents, Francis and Eliza Marks.

Mildred was a loving and generous soul, who was never happier than when she was cooking and baking for the benefit of others. She was a woman of strength and wisdom. She was the best mother and grandmother, who lived her life for the wellbeing of her entire family. She made home a haven for her children and their friends. She loved having people around her, she disliked being alone. Her house was never lacking in the company of family and friends, laughter, and good conversation. One never had to give advance notice of their intention to visit, just show up and you would not leave hungry. There was always accommodation for anyone who needed it. Her smile was warm and welcoming, and she loved a good hug. She was a great storyteller of all the old happenings all the way back to her childhood, with an amazing memory for details. Apart from hours of reading the bible, she spent hours in prayer – praying for all the whom she could remember (including “all the children in the world who have nobody to pray for them”) and witnessed to everyone she spoke with about the love of God and the importance of gaining a relationship with Him now – before it’s to late.

To say that she would be missed by her family is an understatement; some of us will grieve for a long time. But we have the hope of reuniting with our big-hearted mother one day. Her suffering in the last few months is the only reason we are happy that she is now resting. God grant her sweet rest.

She is preceded in death by:

Her parents (Eliza and Francis); brothers: Samuel, Augustus, and James, and sister Marian; son Raulton. And several nephews and a niece.

Randolph (Courtney) February (1961 – 2003) divorced; Joseph Thorne (2005 – 2023) time of her death.

Siblings:

Doris Gilbert, Newburn James, Samuel James, Augustus James, James Marks, and Marian Marks

Children:

Yvette Ralph-Delva (Dany), Charles February (Audrey), Stacia February, Randolph February (Shion), Beverly James (Cedric), and the late Raulton February (Linda).

Grandchildren:

Nigel Ralph, Darwaine McPherson, Tomeka Ralph, Romayne February, Lauron February, Royan February, Ronesha February, Giovanna February, Delyse February, Travis James, Travana McAlmont, and Roshanna February.

Great grandchildren:

Jamal and sixteen (16) others.

Stepchildren: Ralph Thorne (Faye), Rudolph Thorne (Ruschel), and Della Thorne.

Nieces:

Joycelyn, Cheryl, Patricia, Pam, Janette, Denise, Debbie, Vanessa, the late Karen, Odessa, and Evalanza.

Nephews:

Michael, the late Charles, Walstem, Noel, Lindy, the late Steven, Albert, Robert, Mikie, Sherwyn, Orin, Andrew, the late James, the late Shawn, Gayford, and the late Shevin.

A Visitation for Mrs. Thorne will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Poinciana Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Celebration of Life will also be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Poinciana Seventh Day Adventist Church 4948 Old Pleasant Hill Road Kissimmee, FL 34759.
