Reta Iona Mitchell

Reta Iona Mitchell of Kissimmee, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024. Born

in Clarendon, Jamaica on June 14, 1936, to Jonathan and Lovina Saa. She spent her

formative years in Jamaica and emigrated to the U.S. in 1974. She moved to

Connecticut in 1979. She became certified as a Nurse's Aide in 1981, went back to

school to obtain her High School Diploma, and also became a licensed cosmetologist.

She retired from her nurse's aide position in 2002, and eventually relocated to

Kissimmee, FL in 2009. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Poinciana

Church. Reta was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan and Lovina, sister Gloria,

and beloved brother Glen. She is survived by her six-children: Richard of Kissimmee,

FL, Eaton, Leroy (Colin), Janet, Newton, and Andrew of CT. Her daughters-in-law

Sharon, Yvonne, Melissa, and Violet; grandchildren Richard (Junior), Sean, Joshua,

Raymond, Rochelle, Cassandra (Cassie), Jonathan, and Mariah all of CT; and her

great-grandchildren: Rashaun, Pierce, Tessa, Rahmya, Levi, Davin, Calina, and

Arionna of CT; her siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of wonderful

friends.

The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Reta Iona Mitchell will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Poinciana Church 601 Walnut Street Kissimmee, FL 34759.
